Heading into Week 5 action against the WashingtonRedskins, the New Orlean Saints are off to a strong start to the 2018 season winning three out of the first four games played.
Monday night in New Orleans was all about Drew Brees' record setting statement as he broke Peyton Manning's National Football League record for all-time passing yards.
Down 26-13 at the half, the Redskins tried to make adjustments in the third quarter.
"It was my call there for the first series", Redskins Coach Jay Gruden said.
The Redskins came in allowing fewer than 190 yards passing per game and spoke of doing what they could to prevent Brees from making history.
In the third quarter, he committed two costly turnovers, throwing an interception that was returned for 77 yards and losing a fumble as he was sacked for a loss of seven. But Brees also would have to outpace New England's Tom Brady, who has 500 TD passes, the only active player with more than Brees in that category.
However, Peterson said after the defeat that he suffered a dislocated shoulder near the end of the first half.
The 33-year-old Peterson had four rushes for six yards in the game and added two catches for 36 yards. "What we did tonight", Smith said.
Week 5 of the 2018 National Football League regular season is set to get underway in a couple of minutes.
Washington didn't have the same rushing attack as it did in its two wins.
However, the Saints will be without one of their big-play threat wide receivers with Ted Ginn Jr. being ruled out Monday's game due to a knee injury, according to Mike Triplett of ESPN. Check out a running list of the highlights from the game. He is set for an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury.
With the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants all losing a day earlier, the Redskins entered the game with the chance to extend their lead in the NFC East to a game and a half.
With all that being said, the Redskins still lead the NFC East at 2-2 and have the 3-1 Carolina Panthers coming to town on Sunday.
Drew Brees Isn't Focused On Passing Yardage Record
And in doing so, deliver one more moment for the city he's called home since 2006. "It doesn't feel like it's been 13 years". Brees broke the record on a 62-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Tre'Quan Smith in the second quarter.

Chris Chibnall and company managed to give us an episode that did its job and kept us intrigued for the rest of the season. It didn't come across as revolutionary other than seeing Whittaker in the role-and that's probably a good thing.
