Abortion Industry Rips Susan Collins for Kavanaugh Vote ‘Women Will Not Forget’ Twitter/@PPact5 Oct 2018
States "are very busy passing all kinds of laws that would limit a woman's right to choose", Hirono said, pointing out that it is the constitutionality of those laws that could come before the Supreme Court.
Republican Sen. Susan Collins, whose vote was crucial in confirming Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, said she believes his accuser was sexually assaulted but doesn't think he was the one responsible. Instead, she told Pelley, she found the opposite: No one beyond Ford had a recollection of the night in question. Rice is not now a ME resident - she has family ties to the state - but would bring political celebrity that could make it hard for the state's shallow bench of lesser-known Democrats to stand out.
Pelley initiated the conversation with Collins and said: 'There are many who believe that judge Kavanuagh will be the vote that results in abortion becoming illegal in the United States. and I wonder if you are concerned about that?' But she did not say Kavanaugh or Judge assaulted the girls in the bedroom, nor did she provide the names of corroborating witnesses.
Later on Sunday morning, she told ABC's Jonathan Karl, host of "This Week", that she had already decided on her no vote on Kavanaugh prior to his testimony. That-not Kavanaugh's lies, or his troubling judicial record, or Ford's credible testimony about what he did to her-was what Collins felt the need to lecture Americans about.
"We've heard a lot of charges and countercharges about Judge Kavanaugh, but as those who have known him best have attested, he has been an exemplary public servant, judge, teacher, coach, husband and father", Collins said.
Collins returned to ME late Saturday after Kavanaugh was sworn into office.
"First of all, I have never disregarded, disrespected or mocked survivors".
"The threats have been unending", she added, "It's deplorable".
Collins' wholehearted embrace of these vapid GOP talking points is emblematic of her entire justification for supporting Kavanaugh, which basically consisted of her closing her eyes and plugging her ears to information that would prove inconvenient to the creation of a conservative Supreme Court majority.
Collins said she read "every word" and found no evidence corroborating Christine Blasey Ford'sallegation that Kavanaugh tried to rape her when they were in high school.
We're already starting to get an idea of who might challenge Collins in 2020. She said ME needs "someone who's not entrenched in the old way of doing things". "Everybody knows that", Ms. Collins said. "That's what I did in this case", she said.
"[Witnesses who were interviewed] all said they have no recollection". She gave an impassioned, handsome speech yesterday. Collins broke her promise to be an independent voice in Washington, all the while insisting that she had delivered on it.
The political groups Be A Hero Team, Maine People's Alliance and Mainers for Accountable Leadership had called out the senator before her vote, with a Crowdpac campaign titled: "Either Sen".
No. 1 Alabama Rolls Over Arkansas
The Rebels come into the game off a 70-21 victory over Louisiana-Monroe, but they lost to Alabama 62-7 at home on September 15. Are you really playing as well as you're capable of playing and are you doing it on a consistent basis.
