Caroline Wozniacki has already qualified for the season-ending WTA Finals where she is the defending champion
The world number 2 showed her class in the win over Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova 6-3, 6-3 in the final, securing the Beijing title a second time in her career having previously lifted the crown back in 2010.
Wozniacki was in solid form throughout the tournament and did not drop a single set to romp towards the title.
After easing through the first set, Wozniacki raced to a 4-1 lead in the second.
It is only the second title of 26-year-old Basilashvili's career, having won his maiden ATP title in Hamburg in July.
The 2018 Australian Open victor did not drop a set throughout the tournament. "Caroline played incredible today, it's always tough playing against her and I have never won".
Ranked third among active players for hard court titles with 22, trailing Serena (46) and Venus Williams (31), she has now won 11 titles in Asia, including 2010 Beijing and 2017 WTA Finals Singapore having extended to 5-0 her ideal record against Sevastova, only ever having dropped one set. Wozniacki is 1000 points away from the World Number one ranking and to dethrone Simona Halep. "She didn't give me any presents, it was tough", said Sevastova.
Sevastova, who eliminated US Open champion Naomi Osaka of Japan from the semifinal, did not make it easy and fought to win the final, but Wozniacki managed to snatch her 22nd trophy on hard courts.
"I was in a really good shape coming up to this tournament", Basilashvili said.
This seemed to affect del Potro, whose miscued drop-shot in the following set saw Basilashvili break serve once again to serve for the match at 5-4.
