The Air India flight, bound to Dubai took off from Trichy airport at a runway speed of 250-290 km per hour. The pilot in command D Ganesh Babu has a flying experience of 3.600 hours on the B 737 aircraft, including 500 hours as a commander.

The plane took off from the Trichy airport around 1:20 am for Dubai, but was diverted to Mumbai where it landed at 5:20 am, airline officials told PTI. The aircraft, with 136 passengers and crew on board, was damaged on its belly. The flight's take-off wheel allegedly hit the compound wall soon after take-off.

Air India said the two pilots were "derostered pending investigation" and the incident had been reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for an investigation. However, it was declared was declared fit for operations after inspection at Mumbai Airport.

It was chose to divert the aircraft to Mumbai as a precautionary measure, the airline said.




The plane was then diverted to Mumbai, where it landed safely - although the aircraft sustained some damage. "No one suffered any injuries", according to the Air India Express statement.

The First Officer was Capt. Anurag who has an experience of about 3000 hours on the B 737.
