Essential's Next Phone Reportedly Different Than Any Other

Essential is reportedly working on a 'new kind of phone' with a mind of its own

The report also mentions that the design of this new smartphone won't look like any other smartphone on the market It's going to have a small display, and will require the user to interact with the phone, largely using their voice. Think of it as an AI-powered device with a tiny screen that is supposed to reply to your text messages as it was you and make calls on your behalf.Credit: Brian Ach/Getty ImagesThe Essential Phone PH-1 was a lovely disaster that nobody wanted to buy and even less people knew about.

New rumors indicate tell us that Essential is working on a new device to "free users" from their smartphones with artificial intelligence as its main tool.

The new mobile device would be able to book appointments and respond to emails and text messages on its own, based on what the AI software knows about the user and his habits.

The idea obviously sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie, but with Google building products like Duplex that can automatically call people for you, we may not even need a product that's entirely focused on such features. Meanwhile, the company is said to have abandoned the development of a regular smartphone "because the product is too similar to others on the market" and "sales of an earlier phone were disappointing".

Previously there were reports about the company working on its second smartphone as well as a smart home speaker. "I think I can solve part of the addictive behavior". The Palo Alto, California-based company started selling a product called the Essential Phone previous year, to great fanfare for pioneering an edge-to-edge design before the iPhone X. Since the release of the first Essential Phone and Apple's premium product, many phone makers have followed.

The new gadget designed for the "liberation of users from their phones". The first prototype will be ready by the end of the year, and will show it at CES 2019, which will be held in January.
