Usain Bolt scores two goals in trial game for Central Coast Mariners

Usain Bolt controls the ball during the pre-season match between the Central Coast Mariners and Central Coast Football

The eight-time Olympic gold medal victor and current record holder for the 100 metres is aiming to secure a contract with the Australian side after joining them on trial at the start of August.

Just 10 minutes into the second half, Bolt opened his account after muscling off a defender before firing a low strike past the goalkeeper.

The 32-year-old took to Instagram to post a video clip of his first goal with the words "Dreams become Reality through hard work", and added photos of his goal celebration afterwards while saying "Anything is possible, don't think limits" and "New Levels @CCMariners". I've tried to prove myself, I've tried to get better. "I'm keen. That's why I'm here, to play my best and to try and get into the team". He celebrated with his trademark lightning bolt celebration.

Meanwhile, bookmakers Coral have made Bolt 20-1 to play in the Premier League one day.

Bolt was asked by a Brazilian reporter if he should now be called "Bolt, the soccer player".

Bolt emphasised how important the fixture would be in his quest to earn a contract prior to the game and responded with a second-half brace - although neither of the goals were classics.

Bolt - who admitted this was his last chance to secure a pro deal - started the trial match against Macarthur South West United alongside former Fulham and Leeds United man Ross McCormack.

Usain Bolt wants to be a footballer more than anything in the world.

Central Coast are now preparing for the A-League season and Bolt was handed his first start for their friendly game with Macarthur South West United.

The Australian A-League season begins on 19 October and the Mariners are yet to confirm whether Bolt will be offered a contract. He has trained with teams in Norway, South Africa and Jamaica, and had a much-publicized training stint with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in March.
