Met Office issues upgraded amber alert for Cardigan area
While on Saturday there is a "danger to life" alert over potential flooding due to rain covering Lothian and Borders and Dumfries and Galloway.
A yellow warning remains in place across Northern Ireland and much of the United Kingdom until midnight as Storm Callum sweeps in from the Atlantic.
The Met Office's Chief Meteorologist Frank Saunders said: "Strong winds at this time of year can increase the rate of leaf fall which can potentially block drains or culverts and, with the heavy rainfall expected over Friday and Saturday, could well heighten the potential for flooding.
The strongest winds are expected across Northern Ireland during the morning".
High winds with gusts of 50mph to 60mph around exposed coasts and hills are also forecast.
The amber warning remains in place until 6pm on Saturday, while the broader yellow rain and wind warnings that include parts of north-west and south-west England, western Scotland and Northern Ireland will remain in place until midnight on Friday. "Elsewhere, however, the winds should remain below warning thresholds". Expect the unexpected. Watch out for falling/fallen debris on the road and vehicles veering across the road.
