Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah suffers injury scare on international duty

[Video] Liverpool Star Mo Salah Scores Superb Goal For Egypt Straight From A Corner

Salah missed just two matches for Liverpool last season because of minor groin complaints, although Klopp now has Xherdan Shaqiri as back up in wide positions.

However, Salah has bagged himself a morale-boosting goal on global duty today as he's scored a stunning effort straight from a corner during Egypt's African Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland.

Egypt assistant manager Hanzy Ramzy later told BeIn Sports [via Ahram Online] that the initial diagnosis was that Salah had suffered a muscular injury.

Salah's goal was his 13th in African Cup of Nations qualifying, overtaking the previous Egyptian record by Hossam Hassan.

He was on the score sheet again for his country though when his corner beat everyone to put Egypt 4-0 up against Swaziland a minute before halftime in their qualifier in Cairo.

"He will be examined to determine the details, but in my opinion it is not serious".

And although it ended a mini-drought of four Liverpool games without a goal, it was Salah's fifth goal in his last four games for Egypt.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler believes Salah - who the title hopefuls will hope is fit to face Huddersfield a week today (5.30pm) - has not had as below-par a season as has been made out.

Liverpool do not return to action until 20 October, and Salah will have most of the worldwide break to recover should the injury turn out to be minor.

Group leaders Tunisia, also on six points, host Niger on Saturday.
