The world longest flight is now crowned to Singaporean airlines.
The Singapore carrier has seven more A350-900ULRs on firm order with Airbus.
The airline has already ordered seven new ultra-long range twin-engine Airbus SE AIR.PA A350-900ULRs fitted with just 161 business class and premium economy seats - and no economy class seats - for the USA capacity increase.
Pier Messaggio, 41, an Italian electronics designer based in Singapore, said he is part of a group called "First to Fly" whose members have been on board all of Singapore Airlines' inaugural flights.
That particular service was axed when high fuel prices, among other factors, made it unsustainable.
While the premium-economy seats offer an eight-inch recline, the pitch - the distance between yours and the one in front - is a standard 38 inches, 4 inches less than on some of Japan Airlines' long-haul flights. The aircraft can fly for over 20 hours or 18,000 kilometers (11,250 miles) non-stop.
Of two possible routes that Singapore Airlines could take to Newark, the airline has already told its passengers that they'll be opting for the NOPAC route, or the North Pacific route.
The Singapore Airlines has ranked first as the longest direct air link between cities, leaving Qatar Airways Flight 921 behind as it flew from Auckland to Doha, which took 17 hours 40 minutes.
Meanwhile, India is being counted among the top 5 markets for the non-stop service that SIA operates from Singapore to San Francisco, which is one of the longest flights that the airline operates now.
And if the airline's International Culinary Panel of celebrity chefs can't tempt you, you can always pre-order a burger. Singapore Air says data speed could be 4-8 Mbps, depending on active users, satellite coverage and weather conditions.
The four Singapore Airlines pilots (two captains and two first officers) on each ultralong-range A350-900 aren't allowed to fly to NY unless they haven't flown for 48 hours prior to take-off.
Flying from NY to Singapore would be a longer journey, lasting an estimated 18 hours and 45 minutes.
The airline will take a page out of Qantas' book, and roll out menus and strategies to make the flight more comfy, with a focus on wellness. By using this system, the plan burns 25 percent less fuel as compared to the other aircraft with the similar size, said Airbus.
Singapore Airlines says there was increased demand in non-stop flights, so this is how they came to reconsider their initial decision to suspend the route when it became too expensive to run.
The plane has a higher ceiling, bigger windows and a wider body, with less noise in the cabin and LED lighting that is created to reduce jet lag.
It marked the revival of a route that had been eliminated in 2013.
