In-display fingerprint reader. In a first for a smartphone sold in the US, the OnePlus 6T features an in-display fingerprint reader that looks fast, secure, and intuitive.
Although the OnePlus 6T has suffered - or benefited from, depending on you look at it - multiple leaks to date, we're now getting some new and interesting information about the device from OnePlus's rescheduled hardware announcement. The company has also collaborated with T-Mobile as their telecom partner in the US. Moreover, the OnePlus 6 was available in Midnight Black, Mirror Black, Silk White, Amber Red while the 6T will be available in Midnight Black and Mirror Black options.
OnePlus has chose to do away with the 3.5mm audio jack in the OnePlus 6T, and only have a USB Type-C port. As we told you on Monday, one of these features is Nightscape. This helps increase the overall screen-to-body ratio of the device. Its fast, it's like a virtual sensor that comes up only when you need to unlock the phone and it will make you smile every time you unlock the phone.
Another new mode found in the OnePlus 6T is Studio Lighting Mode which when the smartphone detects a face on-camera, it will tweak the lighting to improve the portraits. The handset measures 57.5 x 74.8 x 8.2mm and weighs 185g and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SDM845 octo-core processor running at 2.8GHz.
The 6T runs on Android 9.0 Pie with OxygenOS on top of it. The newly launched OnePlus 6T comes with two RAM variants - 6GB and 8GB. OnePlus, by contrast, only sells premium phones that cost $400 or more and nearly exclusively online except in India.
There are eight wallpapers available, although four of them are from the earlier OnePlus 6. But not necessarily because of the in-display fingerprint sensor. That's all thanks to a new feature called Smart Boost - long story short, the phone is created to figure out what apps and games you use the most and will load some assets directly into RAM in anticipation of you actually doing your thing. The least expensive has 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, that device will cost $549.
But the OnePlus alliance announced at an event on Monday in NY, shows how many US-China business relationships, including those involving the most advanced technologies, are marching ahead despite the escalating US-China trade war. Both the phones come with Dash charging support.
