Blizzard announces Diablo Immortal for mobile devices, opens pre-registration

Diablo Immortal is the mobile Diablo game nobody asked for

During the BlizzCon 2018 opening ceremony, Blizzard revealed that it is developing a brand-new Diablo game to mobile platforms. Diablo Immortal will recreate the franchise's traditional multiplayer point and click action gameplay with optimizations for mobile touchscreen controls. It's set between the last two games with "20 years of untold stories". Diablo: Immortal was developed from the ground up as a stand-alone mobile experience.

The Diablo Immortal announcement was met with a mixed response that Blizzard likely expected. We do hope it's a portal to The Vault in Diablo's Treasure Realm. New abilities will be available for the six classes, along with new zones, stories, and dungeons. As of the writing of this article, the game's cinematic launch trailer has 2k likes and 54k dislikes on YouTube.

When rumors started surfacing that Blizzard had a big Diablo announcement prepped for its annual convention, fans naturally prepared themselves for the next game in the franchise: Diablo 4. Other rumors had swirled prior to the event regarding both a potential Diablo or Diablo 2 remaster.

Arguably, it's the most unique-looking third-party amiibo yet - featuring a red base and a design that does not perfectly match the original creature in the game. Today is also the day that you can pick up the GameStop exclusive Diablo III: Eternal Collection Nintendo Switch bundle for $359.99 with free shipping.

Blizzard says the game is "coming soon", although the publisher has yet to confirm a specific release date.

The Diablo III game, the Reaper of Souls expansion, and the Rise of the Necromancer pack are all part of the Eternal Collection: 7 classes, 5 acts, and seasons' worth of demon-smashing.
