Shooter opens fire on at a Tallahassee yoga studio before turning the gun on himself

Police Man Killed 1 at Florida Yoga Studio 4 Critically Wounded

The man who police said killed two people at a Tallahassee, Florida yoga studio was accused of harassing young women in the area and reportedly made misogynistic remarks on YouTube videos but authorities say it's not clear why he carried out the attack.

Police said Saturday that Beierle had entered the yoga studio posing as a customer and abruptly started shooting people with a handgun. Five people were transported to hospitals, and one victim died at a hospital, he said, and the suspect is dead from a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound. The gunman had turned the gun on himself by the time officers arrived, Tallahassee police Chief Michael DeLeo said.

Police haven't identified the shooter and are asking for anyone who saw something unusual around the time of the shooting to contact police.

Four other people were injured in the shooting, along with a man who was pistol whipped by the shooter, the Tallahassee Police Department said.

Dr. Nancy Van Vessem was also killed in the shooting.

Police responded within a few minutes, but by then Beirele had fatally shot himself, leaving police to search for a motive and a community to wonder what prompted the violence near the city's fashionable midtown neighborhoods. The AP also reported that Beierle was banned from FSU's campus in 2014.

Mayor Andrew Gillum pulled out America's favourite post gun rampage trope and asked residents to pray for the survivors and those who were killed.

And one woman, Courtnee Connon, who told the Tallahassee Democrat that Beierle grabbed her buttocks in her dining hall at FSU in 2012, said she spoke with police but ultimately decided not to pursue charges against Beierle. They told her the shooter kept coming in and out of the studio. Another victim is said to be in a critical condition, while the remaining three people have serious injuries.

Binkley was a 21-year-old student at Florida State, according to school President John Thrasher. The person in the T-shirt had been pistol-whipped while trying to fight off the gunman, police later said. Beierle denied intentionally grabbing anyone and said he might have accidentally bumped into someone.

DeLeo said investigators were unable to draw a connection immediately between the gunman and either of the deceased.

A doctor of internal medicine and director for Capital Health Plan, Van Vessem also worked at Florida State.

Beierle was known to be violent to women, having been arrested for grabbing them in the past.

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum - who is now running as the Democratic candidate for Florida governor - said he would be cutting short a campaign event and returning to the city.
