Ron DeSantis narrowly wins Florida's governor race

MSNBC's test 'misfire' airs results in Florida race for governor a day early
In his final push in the campaign for governor, former Republican Congressman Ron DeSantis told supporters on Monday that he can win the race if the GOP dominates election-day voting.
"We all learned in 2016 not to count on anything, not polls, not election integrity, not the electoral mood", Dawn Hucklebridge, 36, a friend of Gillum, said at his election night gathering as it became clear he would likely lose. But Democrat Christine Hallquist lost her bid to become the first openly transgender US governor in Vermont, where Republican incumbent Phil Scott won re-election.
It was Trump's support, including a July endorsement rally in Tampa, that helped propel DeSantis past a better-funded and more widely known opponent, Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, in the August 28 Republican primary.
He said that winning "will send a message to Mr. Trump, and Mr. DeSantis as well, that the politics of hatred of division and separation, that they've come to an end".
"This sounds like an oxymoron, but hear me out".
"But I want y'all to know that is just it, a transaction".
The governor-elect said he will "fight the good fight" and hopes to work with people on both sides of the aisle no matter who they supported.
DeSantis tried to connect with working-class families by pointing out in campaign ads that his first job paid $6 an hour and that he later traded in his work boots for military boots, highlighting his service in Iraq.
Gillum has refused to disavow the group while possibly angering 600,000 Jewish voters in the state, says David Caton of the Florida Family Association. If he gets in there, Florida' trajectory is going to change dramatically. "I still plan to be on the front lines alongside every one of you when it comes to standing up and fighting for what we believe in".
Rep. Jeanette Nunez, a Miami Republican who is running for lieutenant governor with DeSantis, slammed Gillum for Tallahassee's crime rate, which is above the state average based on population. "That is something our opponent has a bad track record in", Nunez said. Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania - where Democratic incumbent Tom Wolf easily won re-election on Tuesday - are typically Democratic states that swung to Trump in 2016, handing him the presidency. DeSantis, 40, was considered an underdog... At a recent DeSantis rally, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said the race was "cotton-pickin' important".
Florida candidate for Governor Andrew Gillum cast his ballot for himself Tuesday morning, holding his young son in his arms while he addressed the media about his historic contest.
DeSantis, whose endorsement from President Trump boosted his nomination for the Republican party, pledged during his campaign to keep taxes low in Florida, and improve the coastline through beach restoration and flood mitigation.
DeSantis carried his daughter Madison as he went to vote along with his wife at a Catholic church.
Further, many Republicans are "super voters" who choose only to vote on Election Day, not by casting early or absentee ballots.

Barcelona will not risk Messi against Inter, assures Valverde
The defending champions got to the scoresheet when Luis Suarez scored from Jordi Alba's cutback eleven minutes into the match. Only last month, the pressure mounting on Valverde was not incomparable to that felt by Julen Lopetegui at Real Madrid.
