President Donald Trump grew angry with several reporters at his press conference following Tuesday's midterms elections, at one point telling CNN's Jim Acosta he was a "rude, awful person" and the network should be ashamed to employ him.

Press Secretary Sarah Sanders later issued a statement that said the reporter's "hard pass" was suspended as a result of his attempt to keep control of a microphone during Wednesday's news conference with the president.

So, as the president said that the question was racist, and I - he was literally having white nationalists at the White House.

Acosta called the accusation "a lie".

First, Trump berated Acosta for daring to question the president's characterization of the migrant caravan as an invasion. That's enough. That's enough.

Stirewalt said that either way, the episode hurts the political discourse as the Acosta-Trump feud overshadowed "a bunch of good questions" from reporters like Fox News' John Roberts and CBS News' Major Garrett.

'You are a very rude person, ' Trump told him.

"This unprecedented decision is a threat to our democracy and the country deserves better", the statement concluded. "Revoking access to the White House complex is a reaction out of line to the purported offense and is unacceptable". Trump ramped up his anti-immigrant rhetoric against the caravan in the final days of the midterm elections. The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is terrible, and the way you treat other people are awful.

"Just sit down please", he said to Acosta, who tried to ask another question.

Several Twitter users noted that the same video was shared hours earlier by a personality from Infowars, the Alex Jones outlet banned from many social media sites for abusive behavior.

Acosta was stopped by the Secret Service from entering the White House at about 7 pm.

In another article-which was published as a conversation between columnists Frank Bruni and Ross Douthat-in The New York Times, Douthat pointed out that throughout the 2016 campaign, Republicans were hopeful that "Trump would start behaving a little more like a normal politician, or just a normal human being".

She continued, saying that reporters are "not supposed to be the story" and adding that she was "frustrated" watching the interaction between Acosta and Trump.

Trump stepped away from the lectern for a a few seconds before returning to the microphone to take aim at Acosta again.

Acosta held onto it, and raised his arm to stop the aide from taking it, in the process making contact with her.

Waving his finger, Mr Trump berated him.
