The flight was set to carry passengers from Bali to Jakarta on the new Boeing 737 Max 8.

The US aerospace giant has issued an "operations manual bulletin" to airlines using the aircraft, telling them how to deal with "erroneous input" from sensors.

The latest directive follows advisories issued by U.S. watchdog Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Boeing regarding the B 737 MAX planes after the crash of a Lion Air aircraft in Indonesia last month.

Neither carrier said they had received any reports from pilots of issues with the sensor, which calculates the "angle of attack", a measurement of the angle of the plane's wing and airflow needed to maintain lift.

The Boeing's 737 Completion and Delivery Center in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang Province, which is jointly built with its Chinese partner, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, will be put into operation in December and deliver its first plane, the 737 Max, according to a statement the company sent to the Global Times on Tuesday.

The 737 Max has flight control systems which. Moments earlier, the pilots radioed a request to return to Jakarta to land, but never turned back toward the airport, according to Indonesia's National Transportation Safety Committee and flight-track data.

An Indonesian official said both the plane and the two pilots aboard have been grounded while an investigation is underway. He said a team had been deployed to examine the plane.

Soerjanto Tjahjono, chairman of the transport safety committee, said Wednesday that airspeed indicator malfunctions on the jet's last four flights, which were revealed by analysis of the flight data recorder, were intertwined with the sensor issue.

Black box investigations into the incident by Indonesian authorities have indicated that the flight "experienced erroneous input from one of its AoA (Angle of Attack) sensors".

USA aviation regulators said they are drafting an order requiring that airlines follow Boeing's instructions.

The plane plummeted into the Java Sea on Oct 29 en route to Pangkal Pinang from Jakarta, killing all 189 aboard.

Lion Air is one of Indonesia's youngest airlines but has grown rapidly, flying to dozens of domestic and worldwide destinations.

Investigators are expected to focus on how a single sensor's failure resulted in a faulty command that didn't take into account information from a second sensor, said John Cox, CEO of Safety Operating Systems.

The accident also led to flight delays involving airlines such as Batik Air, local media reported.

The airline said at the time that it had 61 "firm orders" for the planes.

Boeing has warned about improper readings from the plane's monitoring system - which have the potential to force the aircraft to take a sharp dive.

American said it was issuing similar communications to its pilots to emphasize the existing protocols.
