Federer, Djokovic top the bill for London finale

Luevano 'Novak Djokovic has nothing against Shanghai but...'

With more players still to be announced over the coming weeks, the tournament is shaping up to be one of the most well rounded in recent times with strong fields for both the Women's and Men's weeks already confirmed.

Along with Juan Martin del Potro, the Japanese star was tipped to be the one of the guys that would eventually break the stranglehold that Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray had on the men's game for so long.

Nishikori has been drawn into "Group Lleyton Hewitt" alongside Federer, Kevin Anderson and Dominic Thiem.

Although he lost in the final of the Paris Masters to Karen Khachanov last week, Djokovic has had a remarkable second half of the year with wins in Wimbledon, the Cincinnati Masters, the US Open and the Shanghai Masters.

It clears up an awkward issue for Djokovic at the start of a week which will see him try to confirm his rediscovered dominance, and prevent Roger Federer concluding the season with what would be a 100th ATP Tour title.

Anderson opens his account on Sunday against Thiem at London's O2 Arena in a rematch of their fourth-round clash at the 2018 US Open, which Thiem won in straight sets. "Five months ago, if you told me that, I would be - I always believe in myself, but it was highly improbable at that time considering my ranking and the way I played and felt on the court". Connors said recently. "Would I like 109 to live forever? It turned out to be a ideal five months". Group Guga Kuerten features top seed Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Marin Cilic and John Isner.

If he wins the tournament, which starts on Sunday, he would draw level with Roger Federer with six wins in total.

A champion's mentality instilled by Chang and Nishikori at his own accord saw him win a Challenger event at the beginning of the year in Dallas - It was back to basics.

But the 31-year-old will end the year as number one, having slumped to a 12-year low of 22 in May.

Djokovic was voted by ATP peers as comeback player of the year, overcoming elbow surgery to return to No 1. With Rafael Nadal out of the mix this year, Djokovic and Federer are the players to beat and Thiem could be just the player to make an impact. "The 6'8" Anderson had battled to victory after being two sets and match points down (in third set) against Federer in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

Anderson is the other debutant and will become the first South African in 23 years to grace the season-ender.
