Sarkar movie controversy: Madras High Court restrains..rom arresting director AR Murugadoss till 27 November
There have been protests by AIADMK workers in the state against the film.
The case came up for hearing this afternoon and the judges have ordered the police to file their cases and not to arrest A. R. Murugadoss till November 27th when the hearing has been adjourned to.
Despite entering the 100 crore club in a span of two days, Sarkar starring "Thalapathy" Vijay, Keerthy Suresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar alongside Radha Ravi, Pala.
Earlier, AR Murugadoss had also tweeted that police came in barging at his residence when he was not at home. Also a woman character's name, apparently referring to the late AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa, was muted after backlash from the ruling party workers.
According to Tamil film industry sources, "relevant scenes" in "Sarkar" have been removed and the theatres will now start screening the "edited" version. In that scene, he's seen throwing a mixer-grinder into a fire with the picture of the chief minister.
"The protests will not continue", he said. He "strongly condemned" the demands for deletion of scenes.
Vijay's Sarkar has finally given up under the vast pressure from the ruling AIADMK and its makers have agreed to edit parts of the movie seen critical of the ruling party, and former chief minister J Jayalalithaa who died in 2016.
He had approached the court after state ministers voiced their opposition to the movie with Law Minister Shanmugam threatening legal action.
Anyway, such controversy is no new of the director and the hero for their last Mersal faced similar issues which only added publicity and looks like even Sarkar is getting there.
