Apple admits touchscreen fault with iPhone X

In the case of the iPhone X Apple is offering free screen replacements for the faulty devices while it is offering free repairs for the Mac Book Pros

Apple has posted a new support page for the iPhone X that mentions how a component used on the display module might fail.

Any iPhone X owners out there affected by this touch issue with their display?

The Cupertino, California-based technology giant said Friday the screen on some iPhone X units doesn't respond or responds intermittently when touched. This time they cover the iPhone X and 13-inch MacBook Pro. That includes Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who reported on the issue yesterday and posted a video previous year of his iPhone X screen woes.

Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will replace the display module on eligible devices, free of charge. If your iPhone X is affected by this, contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact Apple Support to setup mail-in service via the Apple Repair Center. "13-inch MacBook Pro units with affected drives were sold between June 2017 and June 2018". As with any repairs where your device will be undergoing major surgery, Apple suggests that you perform an iTunes or iCloud backup before bringing your iPhone X in for service. If you have already paid to replace the display module on your iPhone X, you can seek a refund for the fix from Apple. Apple says it will examine any iPhone to make sure its eligible for the free fix. The same warning is provided for the 13-inch non Touch Bar MacBook Pro, which may experience SSD failure and data loss.

If you're unsure whether or not your MacBook Pro is covered, you can enter its serial number on Apple's website to see if it is or isn't.
