Jake Gyllenhaal confirms Mysterio role in Spider-Man: Far From Home

Jake Gyllenhaal Confirms 'Spider-Man' Role in First Instagram Post (Video)

The "Donnie Darko" star just joined Instagram and this was his first post.

Gyllenhaal officially signed on for Spider-Man-Far From Home six months ago, with fans left to speculate on the role he'll play. The title of this issue in particular is 'The Return of the Man Called Mysterio!' and Jake suddenly realises his role in the next Sony/Marvel collaboration.

"I just realized I'm not playing Spider-Man", he captioned the clip.

In October, it seemed clear these talks went well, after people shared footage on social media of what appeared to be the actor shooting scenes in Czech Republic in Mysterio's trademark attire.

The role will be the actor's first major part in a superhero blockbuster film. But marketing these films without spoiling the most important one of the three will be hard, a new report notes, and Sony is already hiding potential Avengers 4 spoilers from Spider-Man 2 marketing. The character was introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #13 back in June 1964.

Spider-Man: Far From Home sees Peter Parker embarking on a global adventure and has been described as grander in scale and funnier than Homecoming.

Beck was a special effects wizard who was so frustrated with his Hollywood career he turned to supervillainy.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is a sequel to 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming and is due to be released in July 2019.

Tom Holland, who has been playing the Spider-Man in the new series, couldn't help but join in.
