Manmohan Singh's media advisor Sanjaya Baru's book that goes by the same name, the film has received mixed reviews from the film critics. "The Accidental Prime Minister had limited growth on Saturday with a jump of 15% approximately". My dear viewers, audience, please watch this film. Anupam Kher's movie has managed to earn Rs 4.50 crore on its first day at the box office. It revolves around Singh's life, the economist and politician who served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

A group of West Bengal Congress activists on Friday allegedly interrupted the screening of "The Accidental Prime Minister" and resorted to vandalism at a posh Kolkata multiplex on Friday evening, while the film based on former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's tenure faced agitation across the city. The party also demanded FIR against the director and actors of the movie. "We have made this film with a lot of sincerity and we don't have any political agenda behind the release of the film", he told IANS in an interview.

"Those who are doing drama before the elections over "Accidental Prime Minister", they should see another film - "The Disastrous PM". TamilRockers whose thousands of links were blocked by Madras High Court had earlier leaked new South releases, Rajinikanth-starrer Petta and Ajith Kumar-starrer Viswasam.

This week, the moviegoers are in a treat as they have two movies to watch - The Accidental Prime Minister and Uri The Surgical Strike.

The Accidental Prime Minister makers will be further disappointed seeing the lukewarm response by the public in theatres.
