Manny Machado

This does not definitively close the book on Machado going to NY, which has always been viewed as his ideal landing spot.

Source confirms: Free-agent second baseman DJ LeMahieu heading to #Yankees on two-year deal. The New York Yankees already added shortstop Troy Tulowitzki to their infield.

If you were a real fan you'd set up a Yankees-Machado GoFundMe but you're fake.

Phillies are among a small handful of teams who are in serious pursuit of Machado and free agent outfielder Bryce Harper, both of whom are among the game's most talented players.

A team like the Milwaukee Brewers, connected to Machado at last year's trade deadline, could make sense, as could the St. Louis Cardinals.

Some reports that the White Sox unwilling to move past seven years for Machado, whereas the Phillies might be willing to go a little further.

Machado has seemingly had a similar struggle to Harper in attempting to secure the kind of record-breaking deal he desires this offseason.

LeMahieu will reportedly make $24 million over the next two seasons in the Bronx.

The Yankees don't have a glaring need for Machado, so many will jump to the conclusion that they've moved on from Machado.

If Machado is truly holding out for a historic contract, the White Sox and Phillies probably control their own destiny when it comes to their odds of landing the 26-year-old. After the report from The Athletic's Jim Bowden about the Nationals' latest offer being "much more" that the $300 million offer at the end of the season, it appears as though the Nats may at least compete with the Phillies financially if they secure Machado.
