Theresa May faces confidence vote in her Government soon, Jeremy Corbyn warns

Blocking Brexit could open door to extremist political forces Grayling warns

With just two days to go before the Commons vote on her Withdrawal Agreement, the Prime Minister pleaded with parliamentarians to "do what is right for our country" and back her deal.

However, when the BBC asked what happens if the deal is defeated, Barclay said he suspected the Commons would support something "along the lines of this deal" but did not speculate on whether the government had a Brexit "plan B" lined up.

The Transport Secretary added that the millions who voted to Leave the European Union would feel "cheated" and putting a stop to Britain's withdrawal from the EU could end centuries of "moderate" politics the United Kingdom has enjoyed since the English Civil War.

"Doing so would be a catastrophic and unforgivable breach of trust in our democracy", May wrote in the Sunday Express.

"If the UK is a genuine partnership of nations it is essential that the views of the people of Scotland, the Scottish Parliament and Scottish Government are taken seriously, and not ignored, when the vote on the UK Government's deal takes place on Tuesday".

"Some of you put your trust in the political process for the first time in decades".

The Observer newspaper reported Sunday that its lawmakers have been told it could be tabled "within hours" of that on Tuesday, with the confidence vote to be held the following day.

My message to Parliament this weekend is simple: it is time to forget the games and do what is right for our country.

The rebel Tory has been at the forefront of efforts to make sure MPs have a say in what happens if Theresa May's deal is voted down.

Lawmakers who believe it either leaves Britain too close or too distant from the bloc, fired ominous warning shots this week, voting to force the prime minister to quickly set out an alternative plan for Brexit if she loses the vote.

It said Downing Street was "extremely concerned" about the possibility, which could see lawmakers then delay Brexit through new legislation. The vexed Brexit issue represents Britain's biggest shift in foreign and trade policy in more than 40 years.

Just days before the critical vote, Mr Grayling, who campaigned to leave the European Union, told the Daily Mail: "People have to think long and hard about how they are going to vote".

May's deal has come under fire from all sides - with opponents of the European Union seeking a cleaner break and many pro-Europeans pressing for a second referendum.

Mr Halfon is one of those who plans to vote against the prime minister Brexit deal in the House of Commons next week, saying: "I don't like voting against the prime minister" but that he feels he would be breaking a promise to his constituents to honour the Brexit result if not.
