President says he told Sanders not to bother with briefings

In an interview with Fox News Tuesday, White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley defended Sanders" decision to conduct less frequent hearings, saying, "She will come back when she finds a reason to do that, because so often, so amusing, because the media often tell us when Sarah Sanders stands.at the podium, "Why can't we hear from the president?"

The reason became a little clearer after a tweet from President Trump.

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the White House's strategy to deal with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is to ignore what she says, especially her doomsday prediction about climate change destroying the world in just 12 years. "While other avenues exist to obtain information, the robust, public back-and-forth we've come to expect in the James A. Brady briefing room helps highlight that no one in a healthy republic is above being questioned".

'Look, I don't think we're going to listen to her on much of anything, ' Sanders told host Sean Hannity when questioned about the Congresswoman's recent statement.

In a tweet, the president said Tuesday that most of the press corps "will never cover us fairly".

White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley says Sarah Sanders will "absolutely" return to the podium to talk to the press and deliver messages to the American people.

He added that in the past, when Sanders was appearing more regularly, the media wanted to hear more from Trump.

"I do believe that he messed up in his comments Tuesday", Ryan said of the president during a televised town hall held nine days after the riot, "when it sounded like moral equivalency, or at the very least, moral ambiguity, when we need extreme moral clarity". The last press briefing occurred on December 18, 2018.

"It's kind of ridiculous, you can't win for losing half the time", he continued.

She and other White House officials have spoken to reporters in more-informal gaggles on the White House driveway several times since then.
