Joy Behar Darkened Skin To Dress As 'African Woman' For Halloween

Joy Behar

During the 2016 segment, Behar, an outspoken liberal, displayed a 1970s-era photo of herself at a Halloween party when she was 29.

Behar's former co-host Raven-Symoné had a lot of questions about the photo.

"I was so cute", Behar said in the clip.

"Joy. are you my auntie, Joy?" It was a Halloween party.

Footage of Behar dressing up as a "beautiful African woman" was resurfaced by TheWrap media editor Jon Levine on Wednesday amid a series of blackface scandals making national headlines.

"Did you have tanning lotion on, Joy?"

Behar then explained that the picture was taken at a Halloween party where she dressed up as a "beautiful African woman" and stressed that it was her actual hair.

Gov. Ralph Northam apologized after a photo featuring a man in blackface and another dressed in KKK robes from his medical school yearbook page emerged last week.

In the fall, NBC Today anchor Megyn Kelly was ousted from the network after defending blackface. She said that growing up, it was considered a tribute. She said she wore darker makeup and went as a "beautiful African woman". "I believe this is a time for more understanding, more love, more sensitivity and honor.Thank you for listening and for helping me listen too".

Behar, a longtime co-host of ABC's "The View", is catching heat from critics who want to see her fired after a long-forgotten video of her explaining a questionable Halloween getup began circulating on social media. Conservative blogger Matt Walsh wrote, "Megyn Kelly was sacked from her show for asking a hypothetical question about blackface".

The clip is even taking on more steam since Virginia Democrats are also coming under fire for old photos of them in blackface from their post-secondary days. "That's exactly what Joy Behar did". One defender wrote, "Joy Behar means damn well and we should know this".
