Winter Snow Storm Wallops Pacific Northwest; Washington Declares State of Emergency

So it snowed in Seattle, and the dogs are loving it

The National Weather Service said a storm warning remained in effect, with an additional 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.6 cm) possible on Saturday and another storm in the forecast early next week.

The region, more used to rain than extreme wintry conditions, has been hit by a series of wintry storm systems.

"Snow" could be the buzzword this week, as Mid-Michigan could receive more than a foot of the white stuff this week.

The National Weather Service said some areas received up to 10.6 inches of snow, already making it the snowiest February since 1949, and the second snowiest February on record.

Temperatures will be a couple degrees warmer around the Flint area Monday night and Tuesday, so about 4 inches of snow is expected.

A worker walks across a snow-covered parking lot, Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Seattle. The weather service said that was colder than the Arctic coast or North Slope of Alaska.

"Plan on 4"+ north and west of Boston, less than 4" south of Boston, and 3-4" in the city before the changeover.

But it wasn't all fun and games for the people scheduled on the hundreds of flights that were canceled in Seattle and Portland over the weekend.

About 50,000 residents are said to have lost power across the state, USA media report.

Another was pictured walking along the waterfront in Seattle, with what looked like a solid wall of white behind her.

Friday: Cloudy with scattered showers likely in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, forecasters are closely monitoring a potent storm system that's predicted to come out of the Rockies on Monday.

The snow fell steadily for much of the day causing crashes, spinouts and slowing traffic to a crawl in some places.
