Ravens To Trade Joe Flacco To Broncos

One running gag on social media is the question about whether Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco is elite.

The former Super Bowl MVP award victor is heading to the Denver Broncos in a trade, according to National Football League insider Adam Schefter. The trade can not be made official until the National Football League year begins on March 13, he says. Additionally, Schefter notes that both teams are prohibited from commenting on the trade or terms surrounding it.

It remains to be seen what the Broncos gave up in exchange for Flacco, but ESPN reports that it likely will be for a mid-round pick. When the deal is completed, the Ravens will save $10.5 million in cap space. Flacco had $8 million in bonuses each for 2019 and 2020, which the Ravens will have to eat upon trading him.

The decision to trade Flacco shows the team's commitment to quarterback Lamar Jackson who was the team's first round pick a year ago.

The Broncos signed Case Keenum to a two-year contract last year. He led Baltimore to the playoffs six times and won Super Bowl XLVII over the 49ers. Flacco's quarterback rating hasn't risen above 90 since the 2014 season.

In the LIVE breaking NFL video above, Chat Sports NFL analysts Tom Downey and Mitchell Renz (me!) break down the trade, give full details, and discuss what this means for the Broncos, the Ravens, and implications for the 2019 NFL Draft and free agency.
