George Clooney says Meghan being harassed just like Diana

Meghan Markle's father threatens to reveal the full letter that she wrote to him before wedding; read extracts

George Clooney said Tuesday that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is being "pursued and vilified and chased" by the media the same way her husband's mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, was before her death.

If you missed the speech, you can check out the Kensington Palace video below and it really is rather lovely.

Last week, Meghan Markle's father, Thomas Markle, leaked a letter from his daughter to the press in which the Duchess implored Thomas to stop discussing their private life with the media.

"Oh, yes, I'll be the godfather of the royals, apparently", he said with a laugh, clarifying his sarcasm with a big, "No!"

Princess Diana died in a vehicle crash in Paris in 1997 while being chased by paparazzi on motorbikes.

"She's a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and it's history repeating itself", Clooney said.

He added, "We've seen how that ends", alluding to the auto accident that claimed the life of the princess in 1997.

Former Suits actress Meghan, 37, is estranged from her father following a string of high-profile incidents since she became engaged to Harry.

The Gravity star went on to directly reference the alleged handwritten letter, in which Meghan reportedly accused her dad Thomas of having "broken my heart into a million pieces" by telling falsehoods to the media.

Shortly before his daughter was due to Wednesday Harry, Thomas staged paparazzi photos of himself preparing for the wedding.

Mr. Markle this weekend shared "devastating" details of a letter sent to him by his daughter last summer with the Mail on Sunday.

They also expressed their concerns for Meghan and her unborn baby.

"I do want to say, they're just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere", Clooney told World Health Organization magazine during an interview in Los Angeles.

She later hits out at Thomas for attacking Prince Harry in public, despite him always being "patient, kind and understanding" to him, before then accusing her half-sister Samantha of creating a web of lies that Thomas has simply followed. He quickly dismissed the rumour, jokingly saying he has enough "s**t to deal with" as the father of twins.
