Beto O'Rourke is running for President in 2020

According to the latest edition of Vanity Fair, Mr O'Rourke said: "You can probably tell that I want to run. I do".

"Man, I'm just born to be in it, and want to do everything I humanly can for this country at this moment", O'Rourke said.

Beto O'Rourke will seek the Democratic nomination to run for USA president, a source close to his campaign and an El Paso TV station said Wednesday. While O'Rourke lost his Senate bid, the race vaulted him into the national spotlight.

The former congressman gained a national following with his unsuccessful run for Senate past year against Republican Ted Cruz. "If I were to run, if I were to win, that my administration looks like this country".

O'Rourke begins a three-day Iowa trip on Thursday.

O'Rourke revealed during the interview for the April issue that he wanted to run for president, adding that he is "just born to be in it".

The confirmation comes hours after the publication of a lengthy Vanity Fair cover profile in which O'Rourke did little to hide his desire to run for the White House. "I do. I think I'd be good at it".

The article highlights the struggle O'Rourke had in making a decision based on his feelings and the hesitations of his family.
