Manchester United 'lose out to Real Madrid for Eder Militao'

Porto's Brazilian defender Eder Militao vies with Feirense's Portuguese forward Fabio Sturgeon during their Portuguese league match at the Marcolino de Castro stadium in Santa Maria da Feira

"The 21-year-old defender will join the club next season and is already a full Brazil global".

Madrid were believed to be in the driving seat for the 21-year-old, with a recent report claiming that the European champions have a "verbal agreement" with the Brazilian.

Real Madrid have signed Porto defender Eder Militao as their second revolution under Zinedine Zidane gathers pace just days after his return.

Militao, who had been linked with Manchester United earlier this season, has agreed a long-term six-year contract with Los Blancos that promises to keep him at the Bernabeu until 2025.

"A versatile footballer, Militao plays largely as a centre-back although he has also spent time at right-back". Militao was named as the best defender in the competition for five consecutive matches.

Still only 21, he began his career with Sao Paulo in his native Brazil before moving to Porto last summer.

"His speed, positioning and anticipation are his greatest assets, while he is also strong in the air".

He has scored three goals and picked up two assists in 34 appearances for the Portuguese side, with his displays catching the eye of Madrid. "Qualities that he has worn since his arrival last summer at Oporto, where he has shown a rapid adaptation to European football".
