Yesterday, students from six other schools gathered at Newpark Comprehensive School in Dublin to plan for tomorrow's Dublin protest.
Six months ago as an unknown 15-year-old Ms Thunberg camped outside Sweden's parliament next to a hand-written sign: "SCHOOL STRIKE FOR CLIMATE". She says she hopes to see sustained regional action by students to maintain pressure on the Government to seriously address the issue. "With our futures at stake, we call for radical legislative action to combat climate change and its countless detrimental effects on the American people".
As part of the #FridaysForFuture movement headed by the activist, tens of thousands of young people around the world will be skipping school this Friday to march for change.
Méabh Mackenzie is organising a protest with about 30 fellow pupils from Daliburgh primary school on the island of South Uist, with the express objective of standing in solidarity with other threatened island communities across the globe.
"They talk about our age, our looks and so on", she continued.
"Political leaders need to start by listening to the youth and hear from us what we need, rather than deciding for us", Lambert said.
After meeting up at University, students will march to Valletta's Parliament to join in the main demonstration.
Thunberg began a solo protest in Sweden in August but has since inspired students around the globe.
The rival CSC Christian trade union is also planning a "massive mobilisation", although some of its workers can not strike because of a strike notification law.
