Report Steelers interested in free-agent WR Golden Tate
It is a bit of a surprise he'd choose the Giants given their current situation and him being 30 years old. Tate will join either the New England Patriots or Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency, per a report. It's unclear if those moves take them out of the running for Tate.
According to the New York Daily News' Pat Leonard, the Patriots receiver's representatives have spoken to the Giants, who traded their star receiver earlier this week. It's a four-year, $37.5 million contract that includes $23 million guaranteed, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
So the decision to add Tate is a bit of a head-scratcher other than to say Gettleman truly believes he can win and rebuild at the same time. With Beckham traded to the Cleveland Browns, Eli Manning now has a crew of Tate, Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram and, of course, Saquon Barkley, to spread the ball to in NY. Entering his sixth National Football League season, his career includes previous stints with the Seattle Seahawks (2017), Houston Texans (2015-16) and the New York Jets (2014).
