Teddy Bridgewater will stay in New Orleans. More

Teddy Bridgewater Saints

Bridgewater, 26, agreed to a one-year $7.5 million deal that is worth up to $12.5 million with incentives, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bridgewater, a former 2014 first-round pick, could become Miami's highest-profile signing this offseason after a number of low-risk, cost-effective moves geared toward helping the Dolphins reach their rebuilding potential.

Could Teddy Bridgewater be making a homecoming? At the very least, you'd expect there to be a quarterback competition between Bridgewater and Ryan Tannehill, that is if the Dolphins don't cut Tannehill. If Miami releases him earlier, it would save $13.1 million.

The Saints restructured Brees' contract Thursday in hopes of creating room under the salary cap to re-sign Bridgewater. Yet, with his future in New Orleans up in the air, Bridgewater is taking a visit to Miami.

According to multiple reports, the Dolphins attempted to land Tyrod Taylor before he signed with the Los Angeles Chargers. On Tuesday, Bridgewater reportedly was ready to turn down more money from the Dolphins to return to New Orleans and serve as the heir apparent to 40-year-old Drew Brees. But he suffered a devastating knee injury during a practice before the following season and lost his starting job.
