Chiefs' Hill under investigation for alleged battery incident

The Kansas City Star is reporting that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill is being investigated for alleged battery. According to Overland Park police, the case was closed three days later when prosecution was declined.

Hill has not been charged with a crime, but is under investigation in the matter.

The team said in a statement to The Associated Press that it was aware of a police report filed Thursday by the Overland Park Police Department that lists Hill's address and identifies a juvenile as the victim. Hill's fiance, Crystal Espinal, is identified among "others involved".

According to the report, the incident was against the couple's son and resulted in the young child having a broken arm. The incident in question seemingly took place on March 5th in the suburbs of Kansas City.

The Chiefs said at the time they had vetted Hill and were comfortable with their decision, and they put safeguards that included counseling and other checks they hoped would keep Hill on the right path. "We'll have no further comment at this time".

In 2015, Hill pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery after punching and choking his pregnant girlfriend. He received three years probation after his plea.

This is the second time within the past year that such an incident involving a Chiefs player has come to light.

Hill just completed his third season with the Chiefs, during which he amassed 1,479 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, in addition to 151 rushing yards and a touchdown, and 20 punt returns for 213 yards and another touchdown.

Last November, the Chiefs released running back Kareem Hunt after a video from February 2018 surfaced in which Hunt could be seen pushing and kicking a woman. Hunt has since signed with the Cleveland Browns, and the National Football League announced on Friday that he will be suspended for the first eight games of the 2018 season.
