Christchurch attack: Outrage as senator blames immigration laws, victims

"They Are The Perpetrators" - An Aussie Politician Blamed Muslims For Attack On NZ Mosques

Queensland senator Fraser Anning drew widespread condemnation for his remarks after 49 were killed in the attacks on two Christchurch mosques by Australia-born terrorist Brenton Tarrant

Queensland senator Fraser Anning has been egged while speaking to the media at a political meeting at Moorabbin in Melbourne's south-east.

An anti-immigrant manifesto purportedly written by the man in police custody was posted on Twitter and the online forum 8chan shortly before the shootings.

A right-wing member of the Australian parliament blamed the murder of 49 people at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, on Muslim immigration.

Perhaps the most notable person to criticise the disgusting, anti-Muslim remarks was none other than the Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison himself.

In case you missed it, the teenager made his way into the press conference part of Anning's event, whipped out his phone, and calmly smacked an egg onto the racist senator's pate.

Australian Muslims have been warned to be extra vigilant following the "terrorist" shooting massacre of worshippers in New Zealand.

Anning said Muslims had been the victims in the Christchurch attack but "usually they are the perpetrators".

The Victoria Police in its statement said they had arrested 17-year-old in connection to the incident.

Calling the religion as a violent ideology, Senator Anning said that Islam is a violent ideology of a "despot" acting as a religious leader.

Morrison said that the views expressed by Senator Anning had "no place in Australia, let alone the Australian parliament".

"Parliament, I'm sure, will express a very clear view about what he's had to say", Mr Morrison said.

Senator Fraser Anning came under sharp criticism over tweets on Friday including one that said: "Does anyone still dispute the link between Muslim immigration and violence?"

"The senator in question, I do not think operates by the beat of the same drum as the rest of us", he said.

The Prime Minister and foreign minister Marise Payne joined the congregation at Lakemba Mosque for prayers on Saturday.

"We also know that at times like these there is heightened concern in certain communities for backlash, for comment, for perhaps even assaults to occur".

Fraser also tweeted a number of Islamophobic messages on Friday in the hours after the attack.
