According to Reuters US official said the diplomats were flown out in a civilian charter aircraft. He added, the USA will resume its presence in the country "once the transition to democracy begins", though he declined to offer a specific timeline. Meanwhile, businesses re-opened and public transportation resumed in parts of Venezuela where power has been restored, ending almost a week of the country's worst blackouts.
Venezuela is one of the world's foremost crude oil producers and extractors, but a crumbling infrastructure - the result of years of mismanagement by the country's Socialist government - has made the supply impossible to control.
Power was restored Thursday after a weeklong blackout that Maduro blamed on the United States. US officials and Guaido said the allegation is absurd and that government corruption and mismanagement caused the infrastructure collapse in a country already suffering hyperinflation and shortages of basic goods. He did not clarify what he meant by that remark.
Pompeo addressed the Venezuelan people directly in a video tweet, saying the U.S.is eager to provide them desperately needed humanitarian assistance, including food and medicine.
Pompeo added that the United States government "remains firm in its resolve and support for the people of Venezuela and interim PresidentJuan Guaido". Russian Federation is an ally of Maduro, but its oil interests in Venezuela have been jeopardized since the Trump administration hit PDVSA with sanctions in January.
The labor action came days after the State Department issued a new warning that urged Americans to avoid the country, which was most recently gripped by a days-long nationwide power outage that further battered its economy.
"Since this Monday. we have revoked 340 visas, 107 of which include visas of Maduro's former diplomats and their families", Palladino told reporters.
"Venezuelans have defeated this terror attack and we are now preparing to move forward", Maduro argued. On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed the last remaining American diplomats have left the country.
