That's it. You'll now be able to tell Alexa to play Apple Music on the Fire TV, just as you would an Amazon Echo speaker.
Apple first brought its music service to Echo owners in the USA back in December 2018, and now it has expanded that availability to Fire TV. Other customers can utilize the new support by enabling the Apple Music skill in the Alexa mobile app, then linking it to their existing Apple Music account. They can search through text or voice, whether you use the remote or the mobile app, across a vast channel library.
Once enabled, voice commands of "Alexa, play Beats 1 on Apple Music" or "Alexa, play my favorites playlist on Apple Music" will get you going.
Echo device owners who already have the Apple Music skill enabled and set up don't need to take any additional steps to access the content through their Fire TV.
The news of Apple Music coming to the Echo in the United Kingdom comes months after the service launched in the US. Google Home devices is a potential, as we saw a few weeks ago. This launch indicates Apple's switch from a standard walled-garden approach to services. At CES earlier this year, the company announced that AirPlay 2 and Homekit support will soon come to a host of smart TVs, and Samsung's TVs would even add the iTunes video store.
"Apple Music's many features make this service a strong contender in its category, one that challenges our Editors' Choices, Slacker Radio and Spotify", we wrote.
