Christchurch shooting: Sajid Javid slams Australian Senator Fraser Anning over comments

An unnamed young man threw an egg at Anning during a press conference in Melbourne prompting the senator to hit him in the face repeatedly before being stopped by what appeared to be a security guard. — AP

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Anning's comments were 'appalling and ugly" and said there's "no place in Australia for them.

The incident came on the heels of lashing out of Muslims by the Queensland senator, rather than supposed condemnation of the Christchurch mosque attacks in which at least 50 Muslims were killed.

The teenager who smashed an egg on the head of Queensland senator Fraser Anning has spoken of being "tackled by 30 bogans" as Victoria Police says it is investigating the actions of the senator and his supporters as well as those of the teenager.

The ABC has contacted Senator Anning's office for comment.

Anning immediately turned back and struck the boy on his face before continuing to fight with him.

The 17-year-old boy who egged Anning has become an online hero.

The young man was later led away by police.

Anning sparked outrage following the terror attack after blaming the event on both Muslims, who were the victims, and New Zealand immigrants.

"Earlier today I called Senator Anning and asked him not to make any public comment today", Mr Dutton said on Twitter.

Senator Anning responded: "Well he's obviously a little on the insane side, but yeah".

Hours after 49 people were shot dead in two mosques in New Zealand a far-right Australian senator linked the murders to immigration.

Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison was furious on the comments of Anning. At the moment, there is also a fundraising page that has been set up to collect donations to help the boy with his legal fees and to acquire more eggs. "And he should be, frankly, ashamed of himself".

Without dissent, Canberra's opposition Labor party unilaterally stood with Morrison's conservative coalition government in speedily passing a motion of censure against Anning.

He was roundly condemned after invoking the phrase "final solution" in his first speech to parliament - a reference to the Holocaust - and again after attending a far-right rally in Melbourne where participants made Nazi salutes.

"Egg Boy takes a punch like a champ then gets choked in a headlock", said one commentator on Twitter. political reporter Sam Clench wrote: "The Australian senator now spewing racist garbage in response to the New Zealand mosque attack got 19 votes at the last election".
