'Hard' deadline set to release Trump tax returns

Trump then branded immigrants as "criminals of all shapes".

Yet he has done nothing concrete to stem the human tide across America's southern border - and is even being compared to Angela Merkel, whose decision to open Germany's borders to migrants in 2015 has blighted her chancellorship.

In a Saturday tweet, Trump suggested that his plan to send migrants and refugees to sanctuary cities would intimidate Democrats into changing their approach to U.S. immigration "fast".

Sanders' primary mission was to belittle reports that Trump either jokingly or non-jokingly offered Customs and Border Protection head Kevin McAleenan a pardon if McAleenan violated USA law by closing off the southern border to migrants and asylum seekers. The U.S. now houses thousands of migrants at the border, but is running out of beds and instead is releasing new arrivals into the U.S. on their promise to appear at asylum hearings that might not occur for two years. Pressed on the illegality of the effort as determined by the Department of Homeland Security itself, Sanders asserted to host Stephanopoulos that Trump "likes the idea" and so the White House is now doing an "extensive" review to see if there are "options that make it possible".

The popular west coast USA city boss also noted that Trump "is demonizing immigrants and refugees to incite fear and to distract the American public from his own failures". There he was reunited with his daughter, who attends public kindergarten.

To him, the biggest problem with being in the Bay Area is the high cost of living.

"To tell the truth, it's a little tight now, financially speaking", said Romero, who said he doesn't know of any charities that may be willing to help.

"Not just logistically, legally", Stephanopoulos interjected. "Instead of threatening immigrant families and the cities that welcome them, this president should spend a little bit more time trying to learn from us".

"They want to investigate how the IRS audits presidents, but some of the info they requested has nothing to do with that". Doing longer transports would increase liability for the agency, especially considering that numerous immigrants in its care are families with young children. Sanders also jabbed at members of Congress, saying they weren't "smart enough" to analyze the returns.

"It's illogical", said Angela Chan, policy director and senior attorney with the San Francisco-based Asian Law Caucus.

"I stand undeterred to continue fighting for equal opportunity in our pursuit of happiness for all Americans".

Mnuchin, who has consulted with the White House and Department of Justice about Trump's tax returns, previously said that Neal's request raised concerns about the scope of the committee's authority, privacy protections for taxpayers, and the legislative objective of lawmakers in seeking the documents.
