Jurgen Klopp talks up his Liverpool players after impressive win over Chelsea

Chelsea manager picks out positives from the Liverpool loss: Were there any?

"We were a little bit unlucky for the second goal, for the timing", said Sarri, who was genuine in his congratulations for Salah after bumping into him after the game.

"We know that they get at least two players back, Pepe and (Hector) Herrera, so they will be an interesting and hard challenge".

There had been a lot of talk from outside the club that Salah was struggling slightly this season but he has come up with two outstanding goals in the last two league matches to silence the critics once more.

Manager Klopp said: "We controlled and dominated the game for 80 minutes, which is the best you can say about a game against Chelsea". We play our game. 97 (possible). Let's try.

"Very smart people say "if you'd won at Leicester you'd be champions" and stuff like this but it's all b*******".

A slip from Steven Gerrard and a goal from Demba Ba gave Chelsea the opening goal and became a part of footballing folklore - as the visiting Chelsea fans could not resist reminding their opponents of in song, on Sunday.

Mane scored from an excellent header after Jordan Henderson put it on a T, while Salah wrapped things up for the Reds with an wonderful long range strike. That incident featured in a number of previews for the game.

There was, for a brief moment, a hint of deja-vu when Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson slipped on the half-way line in the second-half, but the Chelsea break was snuffed out by Liverpool's much improved defence.

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri, whose side hit the woodwork through Eden Hazard in the second half, felt the visitors were unlucky not to get something out of the game. They played very well for 90 minutes but I think we stayed in the match very well.

"It was a brilliant day overall, two great goals, a clean sheet and a top performance really-so overall we are delighted. Two or three months ago we would not have done".
