Giuliani: Going to See 'No Collusion' From Mueller Report
According to a report from Politico, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) is making plans to meet behind the scenes with newly appointed Attorney General Bill Barr to set the stage for launching investigations into Justice Department officials who took part into the inquiry into President Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.
Mueller's 400-page report most likely lays out the factual findings and legal analysis of the investigation, which resulted in numerous convictions.
People familiar with the matter told the New York Times in a Sunday report that the White House legal team intends to focus on two points that went unanswered in Attorney General William Barr's four-pagesummary of Mueller's report was released late last month.
Barr's summary letter on March 24, two days after Mueller delivered his report to the new attorney general, was met with glee from the White House, as he wrote that the lengthy investigation did not find that the Trump campaign "conspired or coordinated with Russian Federation in its efforts to influence the 2016 US presidential election". Mr. Barr also said he believed the Obama administration spied on the Trump campaign - but clarified the question is whether it was merited or not. But with Mueller not reaching a decision on the obstruction issue, Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein decided no obstruction charges against Trump were warranted.
Rosenstein appointed Mueller as special counsel for the Russian Federation probe in May 2017, after Trump fired former FBI director James Comey, who had directed the investigation to that point. "These were crimes committed by Crooked Hillary, the DNC, Dirty Cops and others!" The main questions that aides want to be able to answer for Trump: why Mueller couldn't conclude whether Trump obstructed justice and what he meant when he said "much" of Trump's conduct was public.
